Bee Keepers suffer effects of Volcano

Natural disasters can happen at any time unexpectedly. This is the recent case of the eruption of the Calbuco volcano (Chile), relatively near Paillaco area, where several members of honey and blueberry co-operative, Apicoop are located.

Apicoop General Manager, Chino, shared some photos of this. There is one metre of ashes covering the hives. They estimate the damage has been over 1,000 hives. And just a week ago this area was considered a paradise.

Apicoop is seeking to support its members as best they can, nevertheless the contamination will remain in the air and land for a while.
